How Effective is Soft Body Armor Against Stabbing Weapons?

Soft body armor, Level IIIA, is not a deterent to stabbing weapons. Most stabbing weapons, even if they are being used by someone with superior body strength do not transfer enough kinetic energy to the materials of soft body armor to cause them to harden and disapate the energy across their surface. Aramid fibers need the energies delivered from a bullet to effectively stop penetration at the molecular level. This includes arrows from both long bows, and crossbows as well as knives, swords and other stabbing weapons.
It order to provide an effective solution AR500 Armor offers Level III-A steel in 10″ x 12″ plates, curved and in build-up coating for LEO’s, Corrections Officers, Parol Officers, Security Guards and civilian who may face a stabbing weapon in the course of their duties and activities. They only come in build-up coating to suppress any spall and frag damage from being shot at close range should the officer lose his or her sidearm to a prisoner.
These steel plates, at just 4.8 lbs, offer all the protections against the NIJ Standard Level III-A pistol rounds up to and including the .44 Magnum at 1,400 fps PLUS the ability to defeat stabbing weapins such as knives – manufactured or home/prison made, handled stabbing weapins like swords, spears, ax’s and hatchets, and of course it outlasts ceramic, Dyneema and UHMWPE constructed body armor because the kinetic energy of the weapon is defeated at the coating/steel surface as opposed to defeating them through collapsing tiles or webs of ceramics.
It is also slash-proof and offers reduced blunt force trama energies travsfered over Level III-A soft body armor. This maintenance free multi-hit capable protection comes in our patented Advanced Shooters Cut (ASC) for increased mobility allowing the wearer a full range of motion.
