Introducing the New Armored Republic Body Armor Matrix

Tactical excellence requires good intelligence. Ancient manuals like Sun Tzu’s Art of War have long emphasized that a strong understanding of yourself, your enemy, and your options are essential to completing your mission.
There are four basic materials that are commonly used to construct body armor; aramid fabrics, polyethylene sheets, metal alloys, and ceramics. Each has its own distinct tradeoffs. Aramids, for example, is lightweight and flexible, but they cannot stop rifle rounds. Meanwhile, polyethylene plates are the clear choice for amphibious missions, but you may want to think twice if you know you’ll be up against steel core “penetrator” rounds, like the M855 Green Tip.
We all long for products that are the clear “best at everything” option. It would sure make life a lot simpler, but the reality is that life is full of choices and costs. Just like you’d be wise to be skeptical of the snake-oil salesman who hocks his “cure-all” elixir as the panacea to everything that ails you, it would be prudent to maintain skepticism when someone pushes only one type of armor as the end-all-be-all solution, as well as when they exclude a single type from serious consideration. Could it be that they have some incentive to do so?
The truth is that each type of armor has its place in your armory. Just like you may own several different firearms for sending bullets downrange in different scenarios, the same should be true for the equipment you use to stop them. To make those distinctions clearer, we’re rolling out a whole new body armor product matrix that breaks our lineup into four intuitive categories:
-
- S Series
Constructed with aramid fabrics, our soft armor line of body armor panels is lightweight, thin, and flexible. The ideal choice for wearing concealed armor on a daily basis. - P Series
Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene, or just PE for short, is super lightweight, it’s great at stopping high-velocity rounds like the M193, and it even floats. There’s a lot to like about poly plates. - A Series
Metal alloys like steel and titanium can be engineered to do some amazing things, like stop dozens of armor-piercing rounds without failing or even showing much back face deformation. They’re an excellent choice for close-quarters combat. - C Series
When you absolutely, positively, have to stop the most powerful rounds you’re likely to encounter, like a 30-06 M2 AP, a ceramic plate is probably what you’ll be running.

In 2012, we began our mission to glorify God by equipping free men with Tools of Liberty to resist tyranny by making quality body armor accessible to the American citizens. At the time, most armor was A) expensive and B) only available to public servants. We pioneered the consumer market with our $65 steel plate, which we’re proud to offer for the same price today,
In 2022, we’re continuing to make body armor more accessible to free men by cutting out the jargon and equipping you with an analytical tool to easily identify the body armor solution that best fits your unique needs. We may have gotten our start making steel plates, but we’ve come a long way in the last decade and we’re honored to be able to make all four types of armor in our Phoenix, Arizona facility so that we can equip you with the physical Tools of Liberty you’ll need in whatever situation you encounter.
To learn more about the different types of body armor, check out our new Knowledge Base for in-depth explanations of the pros and cons of each. We’ll be adding more content there every month in an effort to equip free men with the mental Tools of Liberty to resist tyranny, so check back soon, or just subscribe to our email list and we’ll let you know when we’ve added something.
